The Gonski Review which was commissioned by the Commonwealth Government almost two years ago was released on 20th February 2012. The report highlighted the fact that student performance is slipping, particularly in government schools and in direct comparison to our Asian neighbours. The main recommendations include an annual increase of $5bn to school funding, which is based on 2009 cost figures, and an alignment between state and commonwealth funding.
